Reign

Reign

My heart’s heiress, ponders life on her terrace
Reflections divine, lost in sips of red wine
Glow of the summer moon, as her fireflies swoon
There is lost love to usurp, as crickets chirp
Near her distant king, as the night herons sing

~

I rule over none, my crown cracks in the Sun
Garden full of flowers, feels empty all hours
But it’s there I tarry, ‘till the night I marry
Another world, I’ll ride with banners unfurled
Far from this life, where I might lay with my wife

I wrote this poem in the form of a masnavi.
