Staying Power

Staying Power

Odyssey
Ten years this heart’s without home
Left longing on a lulled sea

Poseidon
I’ve been washed in wrathful waves
Sins I’ve sown hath been atoned

Savaged quest
Drear days drip with distant dreams
Cloistered cheer in chasmed chest

Shipwrecked heart
Beached beneath barbaric skies
Fate’s whims wander sans a chart

Gorgon nights
Sterling stars hath turned to stone
Shadows’ shards have scratched my sight

Calypso
Ogygia can’t keep me
I’m an island of want’s woe

By the gods
Winds and waves and wounds of war
Blood and bruise I’ll break the odds

Punish me
No pain can prevent my peace
Spells and spears yet still I’m free

Her shores near
I’ll endure because I can
Summoned strength that’s so sincere

I wrote this poem in the form of a treochair.
