Keeper

I wonder in the dark of night
of where she sleeps and lives in dreams
I knock on doors of phantom light
and dance in rains of love’s extremes

I’m all alone in her desires
camped among her moons and stars
collecting thoughts and building fires
that swirl within these hearts of ours

We are what was and what will be
timeless souls under lovers’ trance
enamored in quixotic glee
embraced we spin in passion’s dance

And as I lay through this long night
awake in dreams before I sleep
imagining just how I might
behold the heart I wish to keep
