My Terpsichore
This night I sat by fire’s warm light and gazed in flame
Requited love of years long past will I reclaim?
In thoughts I fell through time and space || then she appeared
She danced among bewitching embers || smoke in my beard
Intoxicating spirit trip the light fantastic
Inviting me into spells she cast || orgiastic
And such are my peculiar nights || in revelry
My witchy woman beckons me in devilry
I wrote this poem in iambic hexameter with caesuras which thus makes it the English version of the 17th century French Alexandrine style.
