The Garden of Arcane Delights

The Garden of Arcane Delights

Gardening under a gunmetal atmosphere,
Breathing the salient fragrance of petrichor,
Sensuous qualities endlessly captivate,
Within the garden of sapient solitude.

Rarefied properties piquing my interest,
Scintillant silk of the serpentine spider’s web,
Petals with diamonds of pendulous dewdrops,
All in the garden of sovereign reverie.

Sunflowers standing like Rameses’ obelisks,
Hedges erected like mystical pyramids,
Here I am musing in natural providence,
Peaceably lost in the garden of sages.

I wrote this poem in ancient Alcmanic verse in three quatrains of dactylic tetrameter.
