Lucid Dreams

Lucid Dreams

We meet each night in lucid dreams,
Our sage love beams.

Raptured in empyreal light,
Through each dark night.

In dreams is where our hearts are furled,
Beyond this world.

Into dawning light we are hurled,
Still bound in Elysium’s flare.
Let’s pray all sleep can bring us where,
Our sage love beams through each dark night—beyond this world.

I wrote this poem in the form of a Spanish ovillejo which is comprised of three rhyming couplets wherein the first line of each couplet is octasyllabic, and the second has just 4 syllables. The poem ends in a redondilla—a quatrain that ends with the second line of each couplet.
